Current announcements

Our article "Quantifying gliding forces of filamentous cyanobacteria by self-buckling" was published in eLife (issue 12:RP87450).

Zaicheng Zhang joined the group for their postdoctoral research on cyanobacteria and soft wetting dynamics.

We are currently looking for new team members at all levels (Postdoc & PhD students, as well as M.Sc. and B.Sc. thesis candidates).

The German Research Foundation is funding our project on the collective dynamics of filamentous cyanobacteria. In collaboration with Stefan Klumpp from the University of Göttingen, we will investigate how swarms of these microbes use statistical physics principles to build their colonies.

Dr. Maheshwar Reddy Gopu joined the group for their postdoctoral research on cyanobacteria and soft wetting dynamics.

Elias Illing joined the group for his PhD project on the self-organization of filamentous cyanobacteria.

Starting in May 2023, the group will move from the Max Planck Institute for Dynamics and Self-Organization, Göttingen to the Department of Physics at the University of Konstanz.
